A new experimental office on the 11th floor of The Shard offers a breath of fresh air, literally. Wrapped in bamboo surfaces and punctuated by living plants, facilities management company Mitie's London headquarters was created by DaeWha Kang Design and cut and installed by Aldworth James & Bond.
The biophilic project, dubbed the Living Lab at The Shard, mimics nature in everything from its natural materials palette to a circadian lighting system linked to an astronomical clock.
We supplied all of the bamboo for this innovative design. Look up at The Shard from the right side of the tower and you can see a warm orange glow on the 11th floor, where the bamboo is.
